Andrews Challenge for Student Scholarships
Andrew's Scholar Medal NIGERIA'S foremost online scholarly competition - Andrews Challenge has been developed by a cream of Engineers. According to Dr. O. S. Asaolu who is the Non-Executive Director, "Andrews Challenge" is an online schol­arly competition developed to reward students who are both smart and swift. The development was made by him in conjunction with a former student of his named Tosin and Mr. J.Fayese - the CEO of True Measures Limited.

He explains that Andrews Challenge is a web based e-learning resource meant to refocus the youths from Internet vices unto academic gains, even with free participation. The mission is to award scholarship prizes to deserving Secondary and Tertiary students. The vision is to stimulate the reading culture, better educational performances and healthy academic rivalry across the nation. Seasonal Prizes for each category are; 1st Prize: N150,000.00; 2nd Prize: N75,000.00; 3rd Prize: N50,000.00
Seasonal winners would be invited to our computing laboratory to compete for a winner-take-all amount of at least N250,000.00 and Certificate of Excellence for the overall best contestant in each category, he added.
The first season of the competition runs from 24th November to 10th December 2012. On the eligibility for the contest, Asaolu highlighted that "the competition is opened to SS1 - SS3 students; Ex­ternal students at tutorial centers; and 100-300 level under­graduate students in tertiary institutions in Nigeria. The website www.andrewschallenge.net has detailed in­formation," he said. Dr. Asaolu is a globally acclaimed academician at the Department of Sys­tem Engineering, University of Lagos who has released award winning software innovations starting with Lingua; a word processor for Nigerian languages in 2001. He received the Young Scientist Award for 2009 from the IAP, the international panel of over one hundred national science academies.
